PROBLEM STATEMENT

Health is an important part of life and something that can be difficult to implement in someone's day to day. On top of these struggles, there can be another barrier to entry which is not knowing where to begin. Despite the desire to want to start, many women are either intimidated by the steep learning curve to working out or figuring out how to form connections with other athletic women or turning your physical activity into a habit.

SOLUTION

  • Find a way to encourage building the new habit of fitness.

  • Solve the problem of women struggling to get started in the gym by giving them resources to learn.

  • Allow women to find and connect with other like-minded individuals to help achieve their goals.

  • Offer a variety of workout routines and possibilities for the users.

Considering the length of the project, this page will only be covering the information architecture, brand identity, high fidelity design, and user testing portions of the design process.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

The app is designed to be intuitive for the users to easily find where they want to go from the profile, to connect with friends, to learning a new exercise, to starting their daily routine. Upon opening the app, it is meant for even a new user to be able to easily accomplish what they are trying to in the matter of just a couple of clicks.

For this project the entire workout section has been fleshed out, alongside the main pages for the main four sections (purple), and the sign-up and log in screens.

VISUAL IDENTITY

By creating a fresh and elegant brand identity that includes bright, punchy colors that exude the familiarity of athleisure wear, it makes the user feel right at home when they are exercising.

After asking a handful of athletic women what makes them feel strong, the theme of muscles while also still being caring and loving came from the participants. Using a combination of these concepts, it creates a strong and recognizable logo identity.

Using critiques from peers about some of the logistical layouts of pages, and from an expert in app programming, revisions were made and the high-fidelity designs came out looking sharp and modern.

The project is a comprehensive clean design that takes in the best parts of social media, and workout apps, and combines it into a fresh look for a new generation of fitness oriented women looking to inspire and energize each other.

REVISE DESIGN

With over a dozen female participants who workout and some that do not, they tested the app by going through a set number of instructions and were told to give feedback on the design, ease of use, and functionality of the app.

There were multiple comments made on how the 'Current Routine' screen was too complicated and they disliked the change in color from the 'completed' to 'in progress' to 'start' buttons. Suggestions also included adding a checkmark box for each workout, and about how confusing the pages were with all of the videos being shown at once.
